CAAT Youth Help Open Delaware County's 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

On June 19, 2026, the Chester Cultural Arts & Technology (CAAT) Center was honored to participate in Delaware County's 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Media, Pennsylvania, joining hundreds of community members in commemorating freedom, resilience, and the enduring legacy of those who came before us.

The ceremony brought together distinguished leaders from across the region, including members of Delaware County Council, state legislators, congressional representatives, local elected officials, and community organizations, all united in recognizing the significance of Juneteenth and celebrating the progress made while acknowledging the work that still lies ahead.

CAAT's talented youth opened the program with a moving performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" presented in American Sign Language. Their heartfelt interpretation of the Black National Anthem served as a powerful reminder that the message of hope, perseverance, and unity transcends spoken words. The performance reflected CAAT's commitment to making the arts inclusive, meaningful, and accessible to all.

Furaha African Dance Company concluded the program with an inspiring celebration of African culture through traditional dance. Their performance honored the strength, beauty, and resilience of African heritage while inviting the audience to celebrate freedom through movement, rhythm, and community.

The CAAT Center is deeply grateful to Delaware County and the Juneteenth planning committee for the opportunity to participate in this important celebration. We are proud of our young performers, whose talent, confidence, and cultural pride represented our organization and the City of Chester with excellence.

Freedom was celebrated. History was honored. Culture was shared. Community was strengthened.
