Chester’s county-wide MLK Day celebration truly exemplified the importance of unity in the community! The CAAT Center along with Amachi, Widener University, Swarthmore College, the Philadelphia Union, the Delaware County Council, and Making A Change Group joined together to host a day of service honoring the late great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It was an eventful day- starting at Dr. King’s former church home, Calvary Baptist Church, and ending at the CAAT Center for lunch, keynote speakers, and peace inspired arts and crafts projects. In between, there was also a peace march from Calvary to Memorial Park where volunteers split into groups to clean up the park and its surrounding areas.
We were so impressed with how many volunteers showed up! Moreover, we are grateful to everyone for all their hard work and for making Dr. King’s birthday “a day on,” and not a day off! We truly hope you enjoyed spending your day with us as much as we did.
