Juneteenth Recap

We were overjoyed to see all of you at our "Safari Ya Uhuru!" Juneteenth celebration weekend! Whether you made all of the events or one event, your presence was greatly appreciated and it helped to make this weekend one of the CAAT's best ones yet!

We began our weekend with our "Family Night Out" on Friday where we hosted several families for an evening of fun and games, good eating, and teachable moments about Juneteenth and the African American journey to becoming "free-ish."

On Sunday, we celebrated our fathers as we paid homage to the men in our communities who have been an exemplary example to not only their own children, but to all the people whose lives they have touched. Our delicious brunch was served by The Chenai Experience and Dr. Onaje Muid was our inspirational very special guest speaker.

Finally, we ended our weekend long celebration at Rose Tree Park in Media where we led the parade processional with stilt walkers, African drums, and the spirit of our ancestors. The crowd was also treated to a performance by our very own Purpose Performers and The House of MaciLago girls.

All and all, our Juneteenth weekend was simply amazing and we cannot wait to have a bigger and better celebration next year. We will post pictures on our social media soon and more information on the CAAT's 2024 Juneteenth celebration will be announced later this year.
